Professional Profile

Professor Matthew Jordan portrait

As a veteran of international business with a career spanning over three and a half decades, Professor Matthew Jordan bridges the gap between complex global business theory and practical workplace application. His professional journey began as a lead consultant for a premier global payment processor, a role that propelled him toward an International MBA from the prestigious Thunderbird School of Global Management. His subsequent corporate tenure includes serving as a Director for American Foreign Exchange in Paris and holding Vice President positions within the commercial real estate sectors of both Brazil and the United States. Furthermore, he has extensive experience in international sales for global data solution firms. Transitioning into academia, Professor Jordan has leveraged his diverse background to lead Global Consulting Projects at institutions like Texas A&M and St. Mary’s University. Currently, he oversees a major USDA grant where he manages multi-million dollar budgets, develops international internships, and facilitates global agribusiness trade initiatives throughout Latin America. A true polyglot, Matthew is fluent in Portuguese with professional proficiency in Spanish and French, and is currently pursuing Mandarin. Now based largely in South America with his Brazilian wife and son, he remains a dedicated Practitioner rather than a traditional academic. His teaching philosophy is rooted deeply in experiential learning, a method he has refined since his early days as an ESL instructor (CELTA-certified). By integrating robust theoretical frameworks with his students' actual professional narratives, he ensures that every educational engagement is grounded in real-world relevance. He believes the most profound learning occurs when students connect scholarly content to their own lived experiences and professional stories.
